Baptisms

July 25, 2012

When I came down to Florida, I started going to the Singles' Ward. It is mostly filled with other college students who also work at Disney World, so it is continuously changing. There is a set of missionaries that are assigned to the Singles' Ward, and boy, is their work cut out for them. The area they cover is just the college program housing complexes, which happen to be gated communities where no proselyting is allowed. The only way they can do their missionary work is through the members of the ward. To make a long story short, I met with the missionaries until someone I knew wanted to know more.

At work there was one other girl who is also LDS, and she had been bringing our friend Rick to church for a couple months. He is from the Netherlands, a predominantly atheist country, so when Rick decided to get baptized June 2, his friends and family from home didn't understand why. He has a challenging road ahead of him once he returns home, but I know Rick will do what's right and will always be an example to those around him.

Another friend from work, Madison started coming to church with me after we had a long conversation late at night on our way home from work. Within a few weeks she had met with the missionaries and loved what she was learning about the gospel. She was baptized by Rick on July 7.

And once again, my coworker and close friend started asking questions and wanted to know more about the church and how he could find the peace that he needed in his life. After taking the discussions and praying about it, Jake also decided to make a change in his life and got baptized July 21, also by our friend, Rick.

So now the pool where I work has 3 new members of the church and we are continuously getting asked questions about what we believe and why we see things that way. It's been a great summer of living as an example and amazing missionary work!
